Love Gone Pear-shaped is a heartbreak poem, a reflection on how and why hearts get broken and go on to mend.
Love Gone Pear-shaped – Heartbreak Poem
This was before it all went pear-shaped
before I broke my legs
and you turned blind.
Overnight, you might like to think.
Like a busy little bee
I'd buzz around like a robot
cradling the flowers
you, the orchid, bang in the middle.
I should have known
you'd never count the petals with me
you'd groan when the weather turned cold,
and my wings fell off.
In the end, I turned ant and crawled away
through the blades of grass
the flowers tending to me,
their petals mending my wings in the wind.
