Truth Poem – At Night, I Weep

At Night, I Weep is a truth poem, highlighting the way people suffer in silence while struggling to cope with everyday pressures.

At Night, I Weep – Truth Poem

My name is Rebecca, I run a prosperous business, have two
beautiful children, vacation three times per year, look stunning,
have a packed social calendar, and marble floors.
At night, I weep.

My name is Garry, I'm a student, top of my class, gorgeous
girlfriend, top scorer, girl-magnet, popular guy, great family,
fast car.
At night, I weep.

My name is Dorothy. I'm dependant on a husband I cannot
leave for financial reasons.
At night, I weep.

My name is Rob. I'm mid-management, but whenever
promotions come round, I'm left out even though I work
overtime every day.
At night, I weep.

My name is Rita. I'm a school teacher, good health, great
husband and kids, some discipline issues in the classroom.
At night, I weep.

My name is X. I'm a human with issues expected to perform
on stage every day.
At night, I weep.

After a brief discussion, Rebecca, Garry, Dorothy, Rob, Rita
and X cancel the play, cry and talk instead.
